Subject: [Cleft] Beowulf Tourney - April 21, 2008

Greetings everyone,

I found this email last night after meeting and wanted to make sure everyone
remembered.
Hersir Torvaldr Torgarson asked me to mention it at meeting but as I didn't
get it until afterwards, here is the next best thing.

Edward
3rd Baron of the Cleftlands

The Shire of Oakford wishes to announce and invite the fighters of the
Midrealm to the new Beowulf Tourney. This is an unofficial formal tourney
to be held on the Third Monday of every month, weather permitting. We do
have a indoor fighting area but it is not large enough to accommodate this
type of activity.

This will be fought as a formal tournament in one of two formats depending
on how many people attend. If enough are present it will be a double
elimination tourney with a best 2 out of 3 finals. If we do not have enough
people for that it will be fought as a round robin style with the two
fighters with the most wins fighting a best 2 out of 3 final round. It will
be as formal as a true tourney with a herald announcing the bouts, salutes,
and winners.
The winner of the Tourney will be presented with a medallion to wear until
the next tourney and will be called the Geat, since Beowulf was a Geat. Two
other medallions will be given out. One called the Shield Bearer will be for
the most honorable fighter of the night, voted on by those at the tourney.
And the other will be called the Grendel, for the most ferocious fighter at
the
tourney, again voted on by those there.

Non combatants are more than welcome to attend and will be allowed to
vote for the Shield Bearer and Grendel.

The entire idea is to shake up the "practice" mentality and have a day
when we all bring out our "A" game and dust it off. To become familiar to
the
formality and ceremony of a formal tourney.

The first will be held on Monday April 21st, the location is the St.
Stephen United Chuch of Christ, in Sandusky. The address is 905 East Perkins
Ave, Sandusky, and if you can bring a canned good to donate to the Church's
food drive it would be appreciated.

List sign ups begin at 6pm, armor inspection will begin at 6:30 and
invocation will begin at 7pm. In Oakford.

Please feel free to cross post this message to any list you feel may be
interested.
